To This Day

"If you can't see anything beautiful about yourself, get a better mirror, look a little closer, stare a little longer, because there's something inside of you that made you keep trying despite everyone who told you to quit. You built a cast around your broken heart and signed it yourself. You signed it, "they were wrong" because maybe you didn't belong to a group or a clique, maybe they decided to pick you last for basketball or everything, maybe you used to bring bruises and broken teeth to show and tell but never told because how can you hold your ground if everyone around you wants to bury you beneath it. You have to believe that they were wrong. They have to be wrong. Why else would we still be here?"

Officially a Senior....

I'm officially a senior now. Welp.

I don't know if I should be happy about this or not. I mean, at least, high school will soon be over. Don't get me wrong, I loved the past three years of my high school life. It just gets tiring sometimes. But on the other hand, after high school comes college and I don't think I'm ready for what comes after college. It's scary when you think about that.

One Less Heart to Break

Please take four minutes and seven seconds of your time to watch this video. I promise, you will not regret it.

"I promise you I’ll never turn away

I won’t let you give us one less heart to break."

So I was watching some YouTube videos and I came across a number of slams that inspired me so much to the point that I was in tears watching these videos.

I know that it's a bit cumbersome to watch all these videos, but please please please do. It's going to be worth it.

Kavindu "Kavi" Ade performing IT
"And they know again. Know that you're not a him or a her but something in between, not human to them."
Katie Makkai performing Pretty
"You will be pretty intelligent, pretty creative, pretty amazing, but you will never be merely pretty."

Taylor Mali performing What Teachers Make
"Do you know what i make? I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could."

This is It

I'm scared. No wait, that was an understatement. I'M FREAKING OUT.

This coming school year will be my last year in high school. It's the year where I'll be stressing about college, graduation, and leaving my dear school. And it scares me to think that this is it. This is the real life. This is the moment that you've been waiting for.

But what if I'm not ready? What if I'm not ready to graduate high school? What if I'm not ready to go to college? What if I'm not ready to be independent? What if I'm not ready to grow up?

Taken from Tumblr. Credits to the owner!

I am the not-so cute friend of the girl you fancy.
I am the ugly sweater your granny spent months making you that your mother won't let you throw away.
I am all the Avon catalogues in your letterbox, you choose to ignore.
I am all your missing socks that you never bother looking for.

I am the wilting pot plant you forgot to water weeks ago.
The half eaten sandwich your mother tenderly made for you.
The quiet fille on the bottom of the shelf.

It's Just a Spoon

It's just a spoon, they said.
No reason to cry about that.
It's just a spoon.

But it really wasn't just a spoon.
It was more than that.
It was those unspoken words,
Those undone actions

Those glares directed my way,
Words that can't be taken back,
Things that went astray.

You were supposed to be my rock, my ally,
You were supposed to protect me from all the evil in this world.
The girls who would lead me by,
The boys who would break my heart.

But in the end, you broke mine.

It's just a spoon, they said.
No reason to cry about that.
But it wasn't just a spoon to me,
It was the last straw.

This is My Year

I'm turning sixteen this year.

Prom is this year.

I'm going to be a senior this year.

I'm going to be taking the Ateneo College Entrance Test this year. (along with the UPCAT)

This is going to be my year. I can feel it. It's time to learn from our past experiences and turn them into better memories.

2013, I'm ready for you.
